PCM24047 – NATIONAL GRID HIGH VOLTAGE UPGRADE
Cllr Patrick had recently attended one of the public consultations and gave a brief insight to the proposal.  He believes that the proposed route encompasses various sites where previous planning applications for solar/wind farms have been made and these could be resurrected later to join up with the planned pylon network.  Cllr Patrick also raised concerns about the electric field and the sound the pylons would emit.

The consensus was that it would be better if the installation was made under the wash or inland but underground.

Cllr Smith was concerned that any underground installation on agricultural land could have a negative impact on crops due to the amount of heat the cables would radiate.

Cllr Wood thought that a better option would be to take the installation under the wash as there would not be any more impact to marine life than the existing wind farm cabling may have already caused.

A vote was taken on whether to support the proposal as alternative proposals such as underground/underwater installations were not an option at this stage.  With Cllr Smith abstaining, the vote was unanimously against.  Action – Clerk to respond to the consultation.

PCM24048 - URGENT MATTERS
